Spotlight on ………

Polski Glos Telford and Wrekin (Polish Voice)

Polski

Who we are  Polski Glos Telford & Wrekin means Polish Voice and was formed as a support group for European communities in Telford 2018.  We are based  in Strickland House, Wellington.

The Telford Aftercare Team (TACT)  provided us with an office space, so we could continue to feed, clothe and support the rough sleeping community in Wellington.  We have formed great links with key organizations within Telford:  West Mercia Police, Telford & Wrekin Council, Citizens Advice, and the Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning NHS to name a few.

Recently we have –  Celebrated a few European traditions.  Easter egg decorations, Easter baskets, and Mikolajki (Father Christmas) comes earlier to Polish children.

Since lockdown and the pandemic things have been very different for us and we have had to support people online.  We are still working hard in our community sending out food parcels and offering help online via Facebook page by posting messages and information.  We have supported with a wide spectrum of enquiries and issues.

What’s coming next  – Our plans for the future are to have more of an online presence, we are collaborating with the Census 2021 to encourage European communities to engage with this and influencing improvements with Cancer support for European patients.  We also continue to support other groups within the European community.

The challenges we have – We need and welcome additional volunteers who have the same shared passion of removing barriers to information and support for our European community members and individuals who have exciting and creative fundraising ideas.

We can be found on our Facebook page Polski Glos Telford & Wrekin PGTW.  Email on [email protected].  website www.polskiglostelford.com

A huge thank you for those who supported Christmas Smile

logo

Thank you to Christmas Smile for all their hard work in coordinating the project, thank you to all of the volunteers who assisted,  to Brookside Central who hosted Christmas Smile so that the wrapping could take place and to everyone who donated gifts to families and older people – your efforts really did create some lovely Christmas Smiles for those families.
