Open Harmony CIC

Connection,  joy and purpose through music

Open Harmony CIC is a local social enterprise, driven by the needs of people who are vulnerable or isolated, and passionate to help them express themselves, connect with others and increase their confidence through music.

We are all about creating uplifting, transforming and joyful musical and playful sessions with those in the local community who will benefit most from the incredible therapeutic effects of music and the arts.  We deliver services across all of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

Our sessions are inherently interactive and are delivered sensitively and flexibly to meet the needs of the client or client groups, enabling them to experience those spontaneous moments of joy, connection and transcendence that spark newfound confidence and insight.  We aim to have a hugely positive impact on the quality of life and wellbeing of everyone we work with.

We have several partners and clients who we are actively working with planning delivery of more music groups, throughout communities in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, that encourage participation from unemployed and economically inactive people.

We deliver different types of services, which include:

  • Music and creative arts sessions
  • Singing groups and choirs
  • Events and festivals
  • Longer term programmes

Laura Atyeo is a community musician, Arts in Health Practitioner and Founding Director of Open Harmony CIC.  She brings to the organisation twenty years of experience working with the NHS and adult social care in Programme Management and Transformation, firstly as an employee and ten years as a consultant.

Since establishing Open Harmony CIC in July 2019, we have delivered 102 music sessions with over 1,000 attendances and have received very positive feedback and 91% of participants reported an increase in feelings of wellbeing, happiness and confidence.
